Ben's Speech

Smoking Kills!

• Did you know that 5,000 New Zealanders die from smoking every year? Did you know that smoking is the number one killer that causes deaths in the world?

Smoking is bad for you  because people can die from doing it. Smoking doesn’t only kill the smoker but also harms the non-smoker around you too because they are breathing in your second hand smoke.

Smoking carries toxic chemicals that can affect your lungs. It causes your teeth to rot and most likely causes asthma.

I am learning to write a speech.

I am so proud of writing an interesting speech.

It can be tricky to make your speech more than 2 minutes long.

My Teacher can help me by editing my speech with me.

The next step for me in my learning might be to write a more interesting speech.

My Healthy Eating Pyramid

We have been learning about Healthy Eating and all the different food groups.  We have also been learning about how many servings we need from each food group every day and how to measure the size of each serving.

I have been learning to write a Kennings Poem.

I am so proud of being able to find interesting words in a Thesaurus.

It can be tricky to find interesting words in the Thesaurus.

My buddy can help me by finding and sharing his interesting words with me.

The next step for me in my learning is to write a more detailed Kennings Poem.

I am learning to recap what we have been listening to and write a summary of it in a Story Pyramid.

I am so proud of being able to write a Story Pyramid with my group

The next step for me in my learning is to help my buddies out because if I help them out they will help me out.
